Tamas Takes Silver at the Cambridge Winter Tournament

Congratulations to Tamas Varju who was 2nd at the Cambridge Winter Tournament last weekend. Tamas was seeded 10th after the poules and in his 1st d.e. he beat Max Hadlewood (Warwick) 15/7, in the last 16 he defeated the no 7 seed Matt Rumble (Warwick) 15/9 and then a victory against no 2 seed Charles Gellett (Queen Mary) 15/13 saw him in to the semi final.  At this stage Tamas had another close fight but managed to edge out his opponent Daniel Wyde (Shakespeare Swords) 15/13, taking him in to a final encouter with Calum Wilson (Shakespeare Swords).  Unfortunately Calum proved to be a tough opponent and Tamas was closed out 15/9 to take the silver medal.  Well done .....a great start to the year !!
