Dear Fencing Friends

As President of British Fencing I would like to extend a warm welcome to all participants in these events.

The GLL Camden International Cadet Sabre Tournament is an established event on the European Cadet circuit, designed to encourage fencers under the age of 17 to participate in international competition and to gain experience in team events. This event continues to grow, and our thanks are due to the European Confederation for their generosity in enabling us to continue to host this tournament.

I am very pleased that these competitions – along with the Leon Paul Men’s Sabre – are being held in such a prestigious venue as the Copper Box – one of London’s iconic Olympic venues. As the former Fencing Manager for London 2012 I am particularly aware of the importance of presentation to an audience that will include both fencers and nonfencers, and I feel sure that spectators will have an enjoyable experience.

On behalf of British Fencing I would like to offer my thanks to both GLL and Leon Paul for their generous sponsorship and continued support. I would also like to thank Ronald Velden and his team for organising these tournaments. Without the dedication and commitment of all involved – sponsors, organisers, referees, armourers general volunteers – such an event would not be possible.

Finally, I wish the best of luck to all competitors and I look forward to watching top class competitions that combine hard fought matches with a spirit of friendship and fair play.

Hilary Philbin
President, British Fencing

The organisers would like to thank our sponsors and partners
