A Busy Weekend of Events Promoting the Club

A massive thanks to all our volunteers that helped promote our club and our sport at the two events that took place today.  Both events were a huge success giving thousands of people the opportunity to watch fencing and hundreds gave it a try.

Many thanks to Shannon, Shilpi, David, Anthony, Sarah, Shuang, Soji, Ian, Lumeng, Linxuan, Eddie, Kajetan and Jack for their tireless efforts under the hot sun at the Parliament Hill Fields (Hampstead Heath) "Give it A Go Festival".

Thanks also to our team down at the Summer Streets Event, Regent Street (Pat, Gabi, Lewis, Tony, Phillip, Spirios, Jean-Baptiste and Louis) who assisted the BF Development team (Jovana and Virginia) in giving passers by the opportunity to try fencing taster sessions whilst the road was closed and this famous street became a fencing piste amongst other things.

Here's a few photos from each event:

Winton Cup

A belated congratulations to Daniel Einchcombe who was a member of the South East Team that won the Winton Cup last weekend.  Daniel won an excellent 23 of her 27 fights to not only help the South East Womens' Sabre team to victory, but also to the overall South East Winton Cup win.

Other Camden fencers' results at the event were as follows:

Bridget Pleasant (Yorkshire) 4th overall
Nathan Potter (Wales) 5th overall
Sam Gibbs (Southern) 8th overall

The Winton Cup was started in 1950 by brothers Bobby and Nicholas Winton, in an effort to bring together the different regions of the country in fencing.  Over the years the event has grown to become the most popular all weapon team event in this country and the trophy that they donated is still used to this day.
