29/11/2016 Weekend Round UpIt was a very busy weekend for Camden Fencing Club with fencers competing in six different competitions over the course of the two days.
On Saturday Zoe Robinson was 2nd at the Leon Paul Sabre Open, losing to Emily Ruaux in the final. Emily had beaten Camden's Bridget Pleasant in the L8 as well as Danielle Einchcomb in the L16. In the mens event Julian Ghosh finished in the top 8, eventually going out to Sam Cooper. Other Camden placings were: Womens: Shilpi Bhatia 17th Mens: Cedric Levy- Bencheton 11th Phil Elliot 16th Harry Paffett 19th David McDougall 28th Meanwhile at the Hertfordshire senior mixed open Alex MacLellan and Tamas Varju were 2nd and 3rd respectively, Alex losing 15-10 to Chris Lennon in the final. On Sunday our younger fencers performed well at the Millfield LPJS, some of them especially impressive as it was their first competition: Jack 3rd U15 boys Eddy L16 U15 boys Amina 1st U9 girls Freya 2nd U9 girls Raphael 5th U9 boys Cosmo 6th U11 boys Frankie 7th U11 boys Our adults were also in action at the London Region Team event where they won a hoard of medals: 1st overall Camden A (Cedric, Alex, Tamas, Chris) 3rd Overall and 2nd Mens category Camden B (John T, David, Phil, Oliver) 1st Womens Category Camden C (Shilpi, Nathalie, Danielle) 2nd Womens Category Camden D (Renata, Jovanna, Katrina) Steve Pope was also "flying the flag" for Camden down in Epsom where he successfully defended his Surrey County Championship Sabre title. Finally our Olympic Pathway fencers were competing for GBR at the strong French event in Seyssins, their placings were as follows: JJ 12th, Curtis 23rd Soji 26th Well done everybody, a great weekend for our club !!
